…nowhere.
If you’ve been paying attention to my widgets (added content and features on the sidebar) you will have noticed the one about a mystery trip in October. Well I didn’t take one. As an independent traveller on a budget I like to go places I’ve never been and really be there. A flying visit to an exotic destination at an exorbitant price was not in my budget at this point in time so I had a ‘staycation’ instead.
A change is as good as a rest.
Travel is as much a state of mind as it is a physical act. It is a change, a break from routine, and a whole new way of seeing the world. I am energized when I return from a trip and I like to keep the momentum going so I often employ the following tips. This enables me to still ‘travel’ without ever leaving the country.
Break the monotony. Do something strange and extravagant.
Tour your own city. Wherever you live there is bound to be something of interest worth checking out. Go to the local tourist office and see your city/town in a new light. Try something new. It could be a new restaurant, different food or alternative route to work/school. And if finances allow, take the day off work. Turn off the alarm, sleep in and spontaneously go about your day.
One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.
