It was the camel that got me, part of a huge poster advertising a soon-to-be released film. Tracks is the true story of a female adventurer who walked across Australia with 4 camels and a dog. The trek was chronicled in an article for National Geographic and the woman had to endure one of their photographer’s intrusions, a paparazzi of one, throughout her journey.

Originally a memoir, then made into a film it is the true story of Robyn Davidson. I saw this film a few years ago and it was the type of film to stir up wanderlust. And once it gets into you, you are often infected for life.

My first camel ride was in the Australian outback. I vowed never to ride a camel again. I have since ridden a camel three more times in three different countries.
