Wellness Wednesday – Remembrance Day

Various cultures have ascribed human emotions and experiences to flowers and plants. Some of these are still recognized in aromatherapy today: red roses and love; rosemary and memory; sage and wisdom.

This year Wellness Wednesday falls on Remembrance Day. In Canada it is symbolized by a poppy.

Poppies became a popular symbol for Remembrance Day due to Canadian John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields. Poppies have been said to denote death and remembrance while the red colour signifies bloodshed. For more on Remembrance Day and travel, see our previous post:
