The 12 Days of Christmas- Ski Alberta

“Oh the weather outside is frightful…”

In spite of that there are people who like to be outdoors during the winter. These same people even get excited when it snows. So for you ski bunnies out there, may I suggest a ski holiday in Alberta.

Alberta is one of Canada’s 10 provinces. I like to nick name it ‘Oil-berta‘ because it is infamous for the tar sands at Fort McMurray, an area in northern Alberta responsible for producing a vast amount of waste and wealth.
Travellers coming to Alberta to ski will likely fly into Edmonton or Calgary International Airport. From there they will either catch a bus or rent a car to head to the mountains.  (Jasper National Park is about 4 hours drive from Edmonton International Airport while Banff National Park is about a 1 hour 30 minute drive from Calgary International Airport).

Besides skiing, one can snowboard, snowshoe or partake in winter camping/hiking. Most resorts are quite cozy so you will be warm once inside your lodging.

Though not everyone is a fan of winter (me included) it can have its benefits. If you dress suitably and pay heed to the weather being active outdoors can help provide health-promoting exercise and alleviate symptoms of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).
