Newfoundland/Terre-Neuve

Newfoundland was a place of firsts for me: the first time I’ve been to this province and the first time I had driven a car since my accident in 2012. I can now say that I have visited all of Canada’s 10 provinces (the territories are another story…)

When one travels, there is always a before and an after as far as perceptions and impressions of a place are concerned. Here are a few words that came to mind before going and after having been to Newfoundland:

My Before

“I’se the B’y“; Irish heritage; the ‘Rock’; cold, wet, fog; poor; ‘kissing the cod‘; barren

My After

French heritage; affluent; rich and long history; fertile
