In Weal World style we are offering the triple ‘F’s as we see them in Calgary:
Bike/walk/run/rollerblade along the extensive network of pathways in the city; urban hiking and gratuitous dog walking at Nose Hill Park; drop-in access to the pool and gym at YMCA locations; ski and snowboard in the mountains or at COP (Calgary Olympic Park)
This is the city where I trained to be a professional aromatherapist. Here are the places where I get the essential oils I still use to this day:
Retail sales of Rae Dunphy’s essential and carrier oils are available at Community Health Natural Foods; Ascention Aromatics sell an extensive line of essential and carrier oils as well as skin care and spiritual blends; Saje sells some essential oils and natural body care products.
The province of Alberta has made itself rich and debt-free through the oil and gas industry. The food can be as oily as the muck that comes from the tar sands. Though it is becoming more possible to eat healthy and vegetarian in Calgary (The Coup; Community Natural Foods) this is a place where the indulgences are most memorable. Try the following for a fix of sugar and fat:
Crave Cupcakes and/or Bliss Cupcakes; Jelly Modern Doughnuts; and Cookie Mama for the best gluten-free brownie I have ever experienced.
And a special mention goes to Chocolate in Calgary:
For good quality chocolate check out Papa Chocolat in South Calgary; Choklat in Inglewood; Coppeneur in downtown Calgary; Epiphanie in south west Calgary; and Bernard Callebaut (renamed cococo by new owners) all over the city.
